oxo

oxo is a computer game, it was developed in 1952 by Alexander S. Douglas, it was the first known game to display visuals in video monitor, to play it you would need to use rotary telephone controller.

in 1972 space war computer game was developed by Steve Russell. its a two player game where each play control a starship and try to destroy each other.

the first generation computer games were often text based games or interactive fiction, you play them by entering a command. 
zork


zork is one of the first interactive fiction computer games, the first version of zork was released in 1971, it was developed using MDL programming language, this game is played by entering a command.

in 1971 the computer space was released by nutting associates, it was created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, it was the first commercially coin-operated video game. it has sold 1500 units.

Nolan Bushnell an Ted Danbey then opened their own company called atari inc, a year after computer space the atari pong was released in 1972. this made a lot of improvement from the design of ralf baer brown box, they added sound effect and speeded the ball. 

space invaders 


in 1978 the space invaders was released, it was developed by Tomohiro Nishikado and manufactured by Taito. it was the first game machine to display HI-score.

first generation 

the brown box










in 1967, German television engineer Ralf Baer and his co-workers designed the first video game that works on slandered television. Its known as the brown box, its utilised simple black-and-white graphics.The brown box could be programmed to play a variety of games by flipping the switches along the front of the unit. the brown box costs $100 when released, this would be equivalent to $564.00 in todays money.


magnavox odyssey


in 1972 the magnavox odyssey, was released. It was the worlds first commercial home video game console which could be connected to TV set. unlike the brown box, there isn't any switches in front of the unit to change the game, but instead they replaced the switch design with cartridges for each game, the cartridges doesn't contain the actual game, the games are in the console but the cartridges programmed to switch the game. the magnavox odyssey also costs $100 on released.
second generation
fairchild channel f 

in 1976 fairchild channel f was released. it was the first programable rom based game console and the first console to use micro-processor. it has the price of $169.95 when released. this is $700 in todays money. by 1977 fairchild has sold 250,000 units.



atari 2600



in 1977 the atari 2600 was released by atari inc. it uses micro-processor based hardware, and rom cartridges containing game code. the atari 2600 was the most popular video game console in the second generation. the atari 2600 sold 30 million units at the price of $199.

bally arcade

in 1977 the bally arcade was released, it was designed by a team in a midway and manufactured by bally.


third generation
Nintendo entertainment system


in 193 Nintendo the Nintendo entertainment system known as family computer (famicom) was released by Nintendo. it was the best selling console on its time. 61 million unite was sold world wide.
 The Famicom supported high-resolution sprites, larger colour palettes, and tiled backgrounds.


atari 7800


on january 1986 the atari 7800 was released, it was developed and manufactured by atari. the atari 7800 uses 4kb of ram and 1.19 GHz CPU.
the atari 7800 has sold 3.77 million units. it was released at the price of $140.
fourth generation
PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16


on October 30, 1987 PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 was first released in Japan, two years later in August 1989 it reached north America. it was the first video game console to use 16-bit era. It has 16-bit CPU and dual 16-bit GPU. Its capable of displaying 482 colours simultaneously out of 512.
sega genesis/ mega drive



the sega genesis/ mega drive is a 16-bit video game console made developed by sega, It was released in 1989 at the price of $299. the sega wasn't doing very well compared to super famicom and NEC PC ENGINE. sega genesis has sold estimate of 40 million units. 

super famicom


in november 1990 famicom (super family computer) was first released in japan. the famicom was developed and manufactured by nintendo. It sold 300,000 units within hours. The super nintendo entertainment system (famicom) reached north America in 23, August 1991 and Europe in 1992. the famicom sold 50 million copies world wide. the famicom uses 16-bit processor, 128 KB of RAM.


fifth generation

the 3DO interactive multiplayer 

the 3DO interactive multiplayer was released on october the 4th 1993 in north America, it reached japan and Europe 1994. the 3DO interactive multiplayer was developed by 3DO company and manufactured by panasonic, sanyo and gold star. it uses 32-bit CPU, 2 MB of ram. the 3DO interactive multiplayer sold 2 million units.
atari jaguar



the atari jaguar was released in 1993 at the price of $249.99. it was the last atari to be marketed until 2004. the atari jaguar was developed by flare technology and was manufactured by atari. the atari jaguar uses 2MB  of RAM and 64-bit bus. atari jaguar sold 250,000 units.


sega saturn is 32-bit console released in 22 november 1994 by Sega at the price of $399, it was developed by Sega's director and general manager of research and development Hideki Sato. sega saturn sold 9.5 million units. it uses.

playstation

on the 3rd of december 1994 playstation was released in japan at the price of $299, it reached Europe and north American on september 1995. the playstation was developed and manufactured by sony computer entertainment.  it has 2 MB of ram, 32- bit RISC CPU, the ps1 is the most popular game console of the fifth generation. it sold 102.49 million units.  

nintendo 64

in 23rd of june 1996 the nintendo 64 was released at the price of $199, the nintendo 64 was developed by nintendo IRD and manufactured by nintendo foxconn. it uses 64-bit CPU, 64 MB of storage and 62.5 MHz graphics. the nintendo 64 sold 32.93 million units.

6th generation


on the 27 november 1998 the dreamcast was released in japan, it reached north American and Europe on september 1999. it was released at the price of $199 equivalent of $280 in todays money. it was developed and manufactured by sega. it uses 200 MHz CPU, 16 MB of main RAM, 8 MB of video RAM and 2 MB of sound RAM. the sega dreamcast has sold 10.6 million units world wide.

on the 4th of march 2000 the playstation 2 was released, it was the best selling video games in the history, it sold more than 155 million units. it was developed and manufactured by sony. it uses 294 MHz CPU, 32 MB of main RAM, 4 MB of video RAM and 2 MB of sound RAM. it was released at the price of £299.

the gamecube was released in 2001 by nintendo, the nintendo gamecube was developed by nintendo and manufactured by foxconn. it was the first nintendo console to use optical discs instead cartridges. it sold 21.74 million units. the gamecube uses 485 MHZ CPU, 24 MB of main RAM and 3 MB of video RAM.

xbox
on november 15 2001 xbox was released, it was the first console by Microsoft, it was developed by Microsoft and manufactured Flextronics. xbox uses 10 or 8 GB of internal hard drive, 233 NHz n vidi a Graphics, 733 MHz CPU and 64 MB DDR SDRAM. xbox has sold more than 24 million units. it was released at the price of $299.

xbox 360


Microsoft has released their second video game console on 22 november 2005, it was developed by Microsoft and manufactured by Flextronics, Wistron, celestrica and foxconn. xbox 360 has many diffreent features such as xbox live. Xbox live allow xbox users to play and download games online. The xbox 360 also has motion sensing camera called Kinect. the kinect tracks the players movemnt and use it as a commands so they can play without the controller. the xbox 360 has sold 83.7million unites worldwide. it was released at the price of £279 

playstation 3

on the 11th of november 2006 sony releases the playstation 3, it is the first console that uses blu-ray disc as its primary storage medium. it was developed by SCEI and manufactured by sony EMCS and foxconn. The playsation  3 uses 3.2 GHz CPU, 256 MB system and 256 MB video memory. on 2009 sony has released a new version of PS3 which is thinner and lighter than the original one. playstation 3 has sold more than 80 million units. it was released at the price of $499.


nintendo WII


on 19th november 2006 the nintendo wii was released, it was developed by nintendo and manufactured by foxconn. it was the most selling console in the 7th generation. the wii uses 512 MB of internal flash memory SD card. the nintendo wii has sold 101.15 million units. it was released at the price of $249.

on the 18th november 2012 the nintendo wii u was released, it was the first nintendo console to support high defenition graphics. it was developed by nintendo IRD and NTD and manufactured by nintendo, foxconn and mitsumi. the nintendo wii u uses 1.24 GHz CPU,2GB DDR3 RAM and 32 MB eDRAM. the wii u has sold 6.68 million units. it was released at the price of $299.99.

on the 15 november 2013 the playstation 4 was released, it was developed by sony computer entertainment and manufactured by sony & foxconn. the playstation 4 uses LT catch 4 GB CPU, 25.6 gpixel GPU and 8 MB DDR5 RAM. the playstation 4 has sold 10 million units. it was released at the price of £349


xbox 1
on 22nd of november 2013 the xbox 1 was released, it was developed by Microsoft and manufactured    by flextronics and foxconn. it is the first xbox console to be released in china. the xbox one has new features such as voice commands, it allows you to turn your xbox on or off using your voice. the xbox uses 8 GB of DDR 3 memory and 500 GB internal hard drive storage. the xbox one has sold 5 million units. it was released at the price of £429.
